SOLIDWORK vs SOLIDEDGE
The differences are
mostly proprietary, interface and code-base quality
Solid Edge implements a hybrid of direct and
history-based modelling called Synchronous technology. It integrates with
Siemens Team center PLM.
Solidworks has very good sheet metal and surfacing capabilities and a well-polished
workflow for top-down design. It has lots of rendering and simulation
partner applications.
Solidworks also has a larger install base, but with more applications allowing for
direct file linking to other modelers, that's becoming less of an
obstacle-though it still impacts employment prospects.
Beyond that, they're both mechanical modellers built on the same constraint solver and geometry kernel.
